"Grandad's Shirt" Memory Fabric Necklace captures their favourite shirt full of memories in a beautiful necklace - to hold onto a special memory or a special story forever.

Memories are one of the most precious things we have - cherished memories of someone special we have lost or a special occasion in our lives. The touch of a meaningful piece of clothing or fabric can take us right back to the moment; bringing us comfort or making us smile when we need it most. Keeping the memory alive & retelling a story.

This Memory Fabric Necklace listing is for a Grandad's Shirt but can be used to order for anyone or any item of clothing - a blouse, a dress, a top, a babygro, an apron or even a tablecloth. Please make sure you read the "Sending Your Fabric" section below to see which fabrics can be used & instructions to follow.

Your Memory Fabric Necklace will be made once your fabric swatch has been received. It will be presented in a giftbox with a personalised comfort blanket to protect your necklace. Please add your personalised text in the box above.

Materials & Measurements

  • Made with your own fabric - details in the "Sending Your Fabric" section below.
  • Necklace approx 38mm diameter.
  • Mounted in a lightweight 38mm silver plated bezel with a slightly textured back.
  • Thread on a silver plated trace chain in a choice of lengths (with 1.8mm x 2.6mm links).
  • With a silver plated lobster clasp, chosen for easy fastening.
  • The trace chain is made in Italy and features a durable anti-tarnish varnish to help keep your jewellery looking beautiful.

Sending Your Fabric

You will need to send me a swatch of your item of clothing. Cut out a square of fabric approx 10cm x 10cm (4 inches x 4 inches) - this size allows for any fraying.

Please note, only cotton, linen and lightweight fabrics are suitable for this order. I cannot use sheer, silky, embellished, lace, woolen, sequin or other thick fabrics. If your swatch is not suitable when it arrives, I will let you know.

For your order I will cut out a circle from the central part of the your fabric swatch, so if you have a preferred section of fabric you want visible on your piece, please make sure this is in the middle of your swatch.

Put it in an envelope with either a print out of your order or a note with your order number. I won't be able to start work on your order until this is received.

(The fabric is your responsibility until it arrives with me so please select the postal service you are happy with eg. First Class, Second Class, Tracked or Signed For. I cannot accept any responsibility for your fabric swatch should it get lost in the post before it reaches me).

Packaging

Your keepsake is made to order and presented in an Ellie Bea gift box. Included is a printed fabric Letter Blanket to protect your necklace.

Your order will be wrapped in tissue paper which is made from 99% recycled pulp fibres and sent in a recyclable cardboard mailing box.

Gifting

Each piece of jewellery comes with an Ellie Bea message card with a hand-written note from me, as well as a Care Guide.

If you want your jewellery sent directly to them and you would like me to add a little note to them, just let me know in the comments box at the checkout.

Postage Info

Delivery is free for orders of £30 or more and costs £3.00 for orders under £30.

Orders are sent by Royal Mail Tracked48.

Orders & delivery are currently available for the UK only & excludes Northern Ireland.

Everything is made to order so we aim to make and post your order within 3-5 working days.

Care Guide

Jewellery: Avoid contact with water, fragrance or body lotion.

Silver plate & sterling silver can tarnish over time when it comes in contact with the air or moisture. Regularly wipe over the chains or settings with a soft, dry lint-free cloth.

Store jewellery in an airtight bag/box or in a lined jewellery box. ​Do not excessively rub or scratch the foil/vinyl prints.
